After speaking to several other local captains and being told all kinds of stories about stripers being moved out already or not in the area. We miraculously found Captain Wayne to take us out the following morning bright and early. Well we got schooled. He had us on the fish in no time at all. We actually did the fishing and the jigging and the trolling and there's nothing like having that pole in your hand to feel the bite. We got our limit of keepers/slots by about 9:00 a.m.. and continued to catch a few more for sport and pictures,(catch and release)What a perfect half day it turned out to be! There was no waiting around or staring at the tips of poles and waiting for the first mate to do all the work. By far Captain Wayne is the best fishing captain I've ever come across. And I've been on fishing charters from Lake Ontario to the St Lawrence and from Gloucester to Cape cod and from Montauk to block Island. Believe me when I tell you there is none better than Captain Wayne and The islander.
